Seven months have passed since the Great East Japan Earthquake and ensuing tsunami struck Japan on March 11. Although media coverage in the United States has dwindled, the recovery effort in Japan is expected to take at least five years, and many question marks still remain, including the future surrounding the nuclear accident in Fukushima Prefecture. The volunteers of the Seattleites Help Japan project stand committed to getting the message out to friends, family, co-workers, neighbors and local communities in and around Seattle that help is still needed in the Tohoku region.
